Let's say that you live in New York and your mom lives in Rome, Italy. Her phone number area code is +39 06. You could get a virtual Rome, Italy phone number with +39 06 area code that rings to your VoIPVoIP phone line in New York. Now mom calls this new Rome phone number to reach you and doesn't have to pay long distance charges when she calls you.
In more technical terms, VoIPVoIP has partnered with carriers around the world and our partners provide real phone numbers from over 1200 cities. When the phone number is called in that city, our partners send the calls to our network through Internet and we forward the calls to our customers phone.
Virtual US Phone number with area code of your choice is $6.99/ month.
Virtual International phone number from any other 40+ countries is $15.00/month plus $15 one time set-up fee.
There are two ways of forwarding virtual number calls to our customers:
IF YOU HAVE HIGH SPEED INTERNET CONNECTION; we can forward calls to any VoIP device or softphone connected to your Internet connection and configured with your VoIPVoIP account. In this case all incoming calls are FREE.

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE HIGH SPEED INTERNET CONNECTION; we can forward calls to any mobile or landline phone in the world when you activate call forwarding feature.
In this case when you receive calls, you also pay call forwarding fee, which is the same rate of calling to that destination that the call is forwarded.
For example if you forward your International Virtual Phone Number to a US mobile phone, the call forwarding rate would be 1.9 cents a minute, the same rate of calling any US mobile phone number.
If you forward your call to for example an UK mobile phone number the rate would be between 14-28 cents a minute, since UK mobile rates vary according to mobile phone company in UK. How do you charge call forwarding fee?
While you open a VoIPVoIP acocunt you need to buy at least $10 of prepaid credit, which you can use to make calls with any VoIP device.
The call forwarding fees are also substracted from this prepaid credit which is also automatically recharged when below $2 threshold. You also have the option to close automatic recharge option, but your service would be disconnected if your credit is below $0 and you need to buy more credit manually.
